Rotten Correspondent tells me that Robin at Pensieve is our Fun Monday hostess this week and this is what she's asking us to write about -

So here goes:
One of my favourites and one that I always preached to my teenagers:
“If you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all”
No idea where it comes from but I love the sentiment, unfortunately not one I have ever been any good at implementing!
Another saying I have spouted regularly to my kids over the year, in response to endless whines of “ that’s not fair, so and so’s mum says he/she is allowed to (insert any number of dangerous/risky activities)”…… is:
“Get over it, life’s not fair!”

Which is very cool because I don't think I've seen you on the FM list before and would hate to think I missed someone. Wow I talk a lot. Great quotes and ones I have used a time or two in my lifetime!

Yeah, my dad always used to say the Life's not fair one to me. I hated it so much, I've never ever said to my own kids.
However young a prune may be it's always black and wrinkled.
My mum always used to say to me, Don't put it down, put it away. Funny but I think of that every time I throw my clothes on the chair and sometimes I even pick them up and put them away!!!! Thanks for commenting on my blog, it's good to have you visit
My favourite expression?
You know what, I don't really have one - I have lots of things that I say over and over, but none of them could be called wisdom.
The expression I hear the most? For some reason, I hear many people say 'nobody likes a smart-arse' quite a lot.....
It came to me in the night - "buy cheap, buy twice".
It's the excuse i use for buying fancy everything instead of mundane anything. ho hum.
If I complain about the stupid mistakes my grown up sons make/have made, my mother always says 'You can't put an old head on young shoulders.' Pity!!
I've never made any mistakes, of course!!
Hi there, one of my mantra's for the day is 'first do what you have to do, then you can do what you want to do'.
Wasn't it Mae West or someone who said, "If you can't say something nice about someone, come over here and tell me".
