What was I thinking?

I just couldn't take the endless days, the house is so tidy, here is no laundry in the hamper, and not even any ironing (that must be a first!) and so I bit the bullet and signed on with a temporary agency.

Monday night they called late and asked if I could fill in as receptionist in the next town, no problem - SITH to the rescue.  OMG it is such a boring job - they maybe get 15 calls a day -  between the hours of 9 and 5 - then it is just a matter of putting them through, no handling any queries, nothing.  Surely someone else could fit this into their work day!  It seems a waste of a good employee - my daughter said 'don't complain Mum it's easy money'.  That's just it - it isn't easy money, I like to be busy, like the hours to pass quickly.  I have read two entire books in the last two days, that and checked on my email, done a little real estate, read everyone's post.....arrrgh.  I am sitting here hoping I don't get the call to go in tomorrow.  Sorry to moan - shouldn't be complaining but .....arrrgh!

Boredom can be as stressful as too much work. At least you are making the effort - you never know where each set of contacts might lead you. Bet all that housework seems like a dream come true compared to this job!

Stick it out & keep reading!
Could lead to something major.

It is boring isn't it but can you use it for planning time for something else and effectively get paid for your thinking time. Maybe it's time to write that novel :-D

I used to do film extra work where you could sit about all day and not be called. At least I had others to talk to but I used to crochet pet and baby blankets, on a good day I could complete one!

Good Luck

An empty ironing basket? Never been known in this house! And I'm with you SITH, boredom is the worst. I'd rather be busy any day. M xx

Can you get on the internet at your boring job? If so, you could sell everything in the office on Ebay, or study on the Open University or something like that.

Or you could do what our receptionist does and file your nails all day.

It's awful to be bored, but try thinking about what you're going to spend the money on, or something. If you are allowed to read, then you could prepare a few posts for us to read! Since my eldest son left home and took all of his clutter with him, I have been decorating the house (painting). It is soul destroying. If only someone would pay me for that!

It's not completely worthless. You got a post out of it and time to read. Do you knit? I've dug out all my old embroidery projects to finish up for next year's Christmas presents. Could you do something like that?

Being bored on the job is the worst thing possible, regardless if you are being paid for it. Lets hope the next one brings you some action and stimulation, because that's what you need, obviously.

Take some knitting along. Imagine - a whole sweater in one day!

I'm amazed at you! You have to keep busy and you go out and find something to do that. Impressive!

Wish I had some words of wisdom SITH - but sadness has zapped my brain these days.

Thanks for all your comments, I think a book or magazine is as far I as can push it, I think knitting is just rubbing the other employees' noses in it!! :)

Anyway lined up for another temp job this week, fingers crossed people that it is a little more stimulating. Keep dropping by I love to hear from you all.
